Andrew Lang gathered fairy tales from across Europe into this collection, and "The Bronze Ring" here has the shape you'd expect: a king, an impossible task, a poor boy who turns out to have exactly what's needed. Each story is short enough for one sitting and the formal, storytelling cadence ("Once upon a time in a certain country") makes it easy to read aloud without much rehearsal.
