A gentle, crooning rhyme to a beloved pet, all softness and repetition. A good one for winding down at the end of the day.
From Mother Goose / Nursery Rhymes (traditional). See the whole collection.
Hey, my kitten, my kitten,
And hey, my kitten, my deary!
Such a sweet pet as this
Was neither far nor neary.
About this rhyme
Four lines of pure affection for a kitten, with barely a story in it: just repeated endearment, "my kitten, my deary", and the claim that there was never a sweeter pet anywhere near or far.
Good as a short first rhyme, or read while stroking a real cat or a toy one.
