Eight words of weather wisdom: a shower with sunshine in it never lasts long. Simple and true, which is probably why it has survived so many generations.

From Mother Goose / Nursery Rhymes (traditional). See the whole collection.

A sunshiny shower
Won't last half an hour.

About this rhyme

A short bit of weather lore, the sort once used to reassure a child, or a farmer, caught out in the rain. Sunshine and rain together were thought to mean the shower would soon pass. It is barely two lines, so it works well tucked into a real rainy walk, said aloud as you watch the sky.
