Mark Twain Children’s Books
Mark Twain was the pen name of Samuel Clemens, an American writer born in Missouri in 1835. He grew up beside the Mississippi River, which he drew on for The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, published in 1876. He took his pen name from a riverboat call meaning two fathoms of safe water. His plain, funny storytelling reads well out loud.
