Joseph Jacobs Children’s Books

Joseph Jacobs was a folklorist who was born in Australia in 1854 and did most of his work in England. He collected and retold English fairy tales so that English children would have their own to read, the way German children had the Grimms. His English Fairy Tales and More English Fairy Tales gave us the familiar tellings of Jack and the Beanstalk and The Three Little Pigs.
