Johanna Spyri Children’s Books
Johanna Spyri was a Swiss writer, born in 1827 in a village near Zurich. She is known above all for Heidi, the story of an orphan girl sent to live with her grandfather in the Alps, which she wrote in 1880 and 1881. She set much of her work in the Swiss mountains she knew, and wrote a number of other stories for children.
