Hugh Lofting Children’s Books
Hugh Lofting was an English author who created Doctor Dolittle, the country doctor who learns to talk to animals. He first told the stories in letters home to his children while serving in the First World War, and The Story of Doctor Dolittle was published in 1920. He wrote and illustrated the books himself.
