Heinrich Hoffmann Children’s Books
Heinrich Hoffmann was a German doctor, born in Frankfurt in 1809. He wrote and drew Struwwelpeter in 1844 as a picture book for his young son, after failing to find one he liked in the shops. Its rhymes about badly behaved children were meant to be read aloud, and it became one of the best-known German children's books.
